Celebration dance workshops are a fun way to create an impressive performance for a special occasion.

We have been working with Sevenoaks Prep School on their Centenary Celebrations for a month with a group of 40 Year 3 students. Every week we have run workshops for an hour and a half, with the challenge of a different style of dance each week.

Special needs dance workshops are extremely rewarding, and it’s important to deliver inclusive workshops in these types of schools. We have done two visual impairment dance workshops recently at Joseph Clarke School in Walthemstow, and have really enjoyed the challenge.

Zest has taught lots of fantastic sessions recently for Grapevine organisation in Essex. It’s a group for adults with learning difficulties. They offer loads of different activities, either in the centre, or going out on trips. The members either come with carers, or by themselves, and are encouraged to be independent in the sessions.

Arts week dance workshops are a great addition to a creative week at your school. You can choose the style of dance to fit with a particular topic or theme you may be studying. You can have some fun workshops for each class, or have a performance piece created by the end of your time with Zest – the choice is yours.

The Robert Fitzroy Academy in Croydon had us in for two days for their Arts Week in Feb. Their theme over the week was an artist called Barbara Hepworth, and in all lessons they were focusing on her in different ways.
