Greek dancing was traditionally used to bring together the community at times of celebration, so it is great for getting children to work together as it is usually performed in a large group or circle with the performers linking on to one another.
Every region in Greece has it’s own dance style, some coastal villages have a more fluid appearance while others from mountainous regions are sharper. We bring these styles together in a dance which has fantastic intricate foot work, fast changes in directions, and can also be very energetic. The music we use in our Greek dance workshops have a strong infectious beat.
Greek dance is good for young children learning about space as getting into circles and lines can be a challenge, this style helps them to get used to the language we use and what we mean by it!
