Decades dance workshops

Decades dance workshops are great fun as there are so many options of great dance decades to choose from, plus it makes history come alive for the participants.

See some examples of which decade dance styles we offer , and step back in time to check out our blog below detailing our three fantastic days at one school.

We were so pleased to be asked back to Kings Hawford School in Worcester to teach some decades dance workshops. The had picked the theme of ‘decades’ as the school was celebrating their 60th anniversary.

We supplied three Zest teachers to work with years 3,  4 and 6, and the school wanted a polished dance from each class to perform in a big performance on the third day.

1970’s

One teacher had year 6 and they did the 1970’s and Disco dance which was loads of fun. They danced to ‘Disco Inferno’ and they all had the song stuck in their heads for 3 days!

1950’s

Another teacher had year 4, and their decade was 1950’s so she taught them a dance to ‘Rock around the clock’.

1990’s

The last teacher had year 3 and their decade was the 1990’s. She taught them a dance to ‘Reach’ by good old Steps!

The three days coincided with a heat wave we were having. This made it really hard to motivate floppy kids when the teachers felt like passing out too. We had an air conditioning unit in one space, and it stopped recording the temperature once it went past 40 degrees!!!

The end performance on the last day was an enormous affair with a marquee erected especially for the dance assembly. There was standing room only at the back as so many proud parents came along. All our classes did a fantastic job and we were so moved by their enthusiasm and effort.

We have been booked again to teach there next year, and we are looking forward to it already.
