American dance workshops
Our American dance workshops fit in with themes all to do with the USA. We can teach many different dance styles, as America has a large variety of dance they practice, therefore making the topic come alive.
Three Zest teachers (Steph, Krupa and Olivia) were asked to go to Kings Hawford School in Worcester. They taught dances to be performed at the school’s end of year performance.
Every year they have a different theme, and this year it was all based on the USA. In their class work they studied different aspects of the USA, and we came in to do the practical part.
This school always do an end of year dance festival week. Each class practices their own dance which are choreographed by their class teachers. Our teachers were brought in to challenge the older years – 4, 5 and 6.
Year 4
Jive dance
Year 5
Cheerleading
Year 6
Lindy Hop
We had three days with the school where we taught our designated classes for a few sessions each day, as well as doing American dance workshops for all the other classes in the school.
We enjoyed getting to know our classes and they were really great children to teach. They are are really experienced at performing as they do a show every year. As you can see from the videos the boys really get into the performing, just as much as the girls!
Costumes
We talked about costume for them to wear and everyone brought in appropriate things from home to wear to enhance the performance.
Performances
In a hot marquee built on the school grounds especially for the show, they performed on the Friday afternoon to hundreds of excited parents.
Here are the videos below from our performances – we were so proud of them all.
We have already been booked by the school to come back next year 🙂
It’s lovely to do a job that you truly love and most importantly, get appreciated for it! Here’s a photo of the three teachers going for the obligatory jumping shot…
